Life Skills Development services are designed to help individuals with disabilities learn, strengthen, and maintain essential skills needed for everyday living. This service focuses on building independence through guidance, coaching, and encouragement—while respecting each individual’s abilities, goals, and pace of learning.
Services may be provided in the individual’s home or community and are centered on skill development rather than task completion.
Life Skills Development may include support with:
Personal hygiene and self-care skill building
Meal planning, preparation, and nutrition awareness
Household management and organization skills
Time management and daily routine development
Communication and social interaction skills
Problem-solving and decision-making skills
Community access, participation, and safety awareness
Building independence and self-advocacy
"Please note that participation in the Developmental Disabilites Waiver program allows for these services to be provided ONLY to clients being served under the waiver."
